All pregnancies are different. Some you feel and look great and some you don’t. For those pregnancies where looking good is not easy, there are some simple tips to ensure you look your best.

1)    Maternity Clothes are a great place to start. Stick to classic pieces in darker shades to disguise any extra weight gain or water retention.  In the later months, purchase a few classic pieces that you can mix and match with existing wardrobe items.  A jersey shift dress, a stylish wrap dress and a pair of maternity jeans will help you to feel great and still feel like you. Accessorising is another key to keeping your outfits fresh.

2)    Foot care is something many women don’t think about during pregnancy. Keeping your feet smooth and well moisturised is essential, as you grow bigger because with all the extra weight you will be carrying, your feet really bear the brunt and start to crack and ache. So get regular pedicures, have your partner massage your feet with oils and lotions and keep your toenails trim.

3)    Looking after your skin is important in pregnancy because your hormones don’t run on the usual levels. Many women find pigmentation to be a concern, or pimples or dark eye circles from lack of sleep. Making sure you stick to your usual skin care regime is important to keep your skin fresh and clear. Don’t forget the skin on your belly! As your belly grows to accommodate baby, you may find the skin gets itchy, so be sure to keep in well moisturised with the best creams or oils you can afford.

4)    Taking care of your fingernails and toenails is a small but effective way to look your best during pregnancy. You may not be able to wear a great array of fashions, you might look a little bloated and your shoes not as glamorous, but your nails can look spectacular during every trimester.

5)    Just because you are growing a little extra person inside you, doesn’t mean you can ditch healthy and moderate eating. Despite what you’ve heard, if you eat more than necessary during pregnancy, you will put on weight and the weight does not miraculously disappear once the baby comes out.  So take care with your diet, and eat fresh, whole foods. Drink lots of water and don’t over do the sweets and fatty foods. This is not only good for you and your baby it will help you look your best.

6)    Exercising regularly and moderately during pregnancy will keep your bloody flowing and your endorphins up. You will not only feel better with moderate exercise, but you will look better. It will prevent too much water retention, weight gain and keep skin clear.

7)    Get plenty in your pregnancy for while there are so many things you cannot do when you’re pregnant, you do have an excuse to rest as much as you need to. Getting plenty of rest and sleep will prevent your skin from looking tired, but also your spirits. If you are feeling well rested and relaxed, this will reflect in your appearance. Besides, get plenty of rest now, because soon you will not have such luxuries!

8)    Wearing makeup can be a great way to help you look your best when pregnant. A little foundation may help cover any pigmentation or hormone blemishes. A dash of eye shadow and mascara can lift tired eyes. A hint of coloured lippy is always a great move if you’re feeling or looking washed out.

Womens Intuition

We know what we want, when we want
And we're not afraid to ask
When we find, we we're right all along
We relish and in the moment we bask
Call it women’s intuition
Anything you desire
Women are more intelligent than men
Women are so much higher
Women control their lives
We are strong and so not weak
We can tell when you men are lying
From just the way you speak
We always have a comeback
For anything you say
We will always win the fight
We'll never back away
So don't forget to bow
To any women you meet
And try not to boys
Wolf whistle at us in the street
