Your special day is coming up and for your hen’s night, you’re thinking of going interstate. The two biggest cities, Sydney and Melbourne, attract the lion’s share of interstate tourism in Australia. The long-running rivalry between the two cities have left many perplexed as to which is the “better” city: Sydney matches great Melbourne bars with restaurants boasting with irreplaceable harbour views; but to Sydney’s great city beaches, Melbourne holds up great coffee, atmosphere, and culture. Some of the best shopping experiences can be had in Melbourne’s shopping precincts. For higher end shopping, try Collins St, the Block Arcade, the GPO, Australia on Collins and Crown Casino. Have a wander around the city’s laneways for smaller shops that specialise in cutting edge or quirky designs. Don’t forget Southgate, Melbourne Central, and QV. Chapel St has a good selection for both men and women. Large suburban shopping centres such as Chadstone and Westfield Doncaster and other shopping strips like Brunswick St and Bridge Rd have a huge variety of shops catering to all budgets.
