Exercise myths and reality- Why does yoga always work for women?

Exercise is like good home insurance. It does you good where you live. The myths and realities of exercise are a true study in how people can wrap themselves around the wrong ideas and misinterpret the right ideas. It’s worth looking at myths and realities to see how each stacks up against your own needs.

Exercise myths
The exercise myths vary from the ridiculous to the downright dangerous. Exercise is generally good for anyone, but unless tailored for individuals, it can also be risky, unproductive, and worse, act as a disincentive for people who really need to exercise.
Myths:
- Running will give anyone great stamina: It will, if it doesn’t kill them first. Professional runners train so fitness levels are gradually improved. If you want to do running, be realistic about your abilities. Don’t keep going when your heart feels like it’s exploding, or if you’re wondering whether you can breathe or not. Gradual development will bring dividends in drastically improved fitness, circulation, and endurance.
- Competitive sport is the best for anyone trying to get fit: Competitive sport is great, if you’re fit enough to play. If you’re not, you can turn yourself into a wasteland of breathless strains and sprains. Contact sports are definitely not for people who are out of condition.
- Aerobics are great no-risk exercise for everyone: Most aerobics instructors wouldn’t agree. Some people can get tired just trying to persuade their way into workout clothes. Aerobics must be paced to individuals.
- Weight training adds muscle mass: Yes, and it also adds heart strain, and the risk of serious gut and back injury unless you’ve got good backup from a pro trainer. It is utterly absurd to assume working with very heavy, dangerous weights is just some sort of cosmetic exercise.
Reality- Yoga
You get the idea about the myths. Now the realities. Rather than go through every possible form of good exercise, let’s concentrate on a proven exercise regime which works brilliantly, particularly for women.
Yoga is based very much on suppleness. This is the key to good muscle coordination, and all sports enthusiasts should try yoga if they want some relief from the hard work and pain of other types of exercise.

The effects of yoga on women, who have arguably more issues than men in terms of exercise, are often stunning. Women can train as hard as men, and many do. However, being female also includes a few minor details like having kids, weight management, and other infuriating issues. The large numbers of different types of stretch exercises in yoga are excellent in promoting good circulation.
The muscles return to their proper tone, and the anti-aging effect is quite startling in some cases. There’s an Australian yoga teacher who’s been teaching for 50 years. In that time, the sole noticeable change in her appearance has been a lock of white hair. She still looks like she’s in her early 30s. For some reason, yoga is the perfect exercise for all women, in any state of fitness. It’s easy to learn, too, and starts with very easy exercises for beginners.
Good exercise is also like contents insurance. It covers your most valuable possession, your health.

In the practice of yoga asanas, one can synthesize three positives- body strengthening, breathe control for chemical and emotional balance, and the power of prayer when in concentration. This is yoga’s powerful mystery of healing(Mark Bricklin- a health author). That’s why I follow a selection of asanas that help me with my poor blood circulation as a diabetic. Good sharing!
